How to Play the Bible Fish Card Game

Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men (Matthew 4:19 KJV).

Play the Bible Fish Card Game like any other game of Fish, except see and hear Bible verses while playing. Tap on a book or Go Fish, to see the Bible verse associated with the card's rank. Tap on a book to hear the Scripture too. Pictures on face cards represent Bible topics. See Scripture, Bible art, and hear the Word of God, while enjoying the card game.

To start select the Play! button. Play against the computer, named Jonah. Jonah will deal seven cards to you, and seven cards to himself.

Ask for a Card

To ask for a card, choose a rank. Select a rank from one of the buttons above, to tell Jonah which cards you want from him. King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and Ace, are names for ranks. If Jonah has cards with the rank you ask for, then he'll give them to you. The cards he gives you automatically display in your hand.

Jonah Tells You to Fish

If Jonah doesn't have those cards, then he tells you to Go Fish. When Jonah tells you to Go Fish, the Go Fish button changes colors, and the bubble says Go Fish!. If no other sound effects are currently playing, you'll hear Jonah tell you to Go fish.

To Go Fish, tap on the deck of cards labeled Fish. The card from the top of the deck moves to your hand. If the rank on the card from the deck matches the rank you asked for, then it's still your turn. If not, then it's Jonah's turn.

If it's still your turn and the card makes a book, then you have the opportunity to gain ten points!

What's a Book?

When it's your turn you can make a book to gain ten points.

A book is four cards of the same rank. For example the King of Hearts, King of Diamonds, King of Spades, and King of Clubs, all together make one book, with rank of King. The 10 of Hearts, 10 of Diamonds, 10 of Spades, and 10 of Clubs, represent a book with a rank of 10. Books display horizontally like a small deck of cards.

Your books display under your hand of cards. Jonah's books display under the horizontal line.

Make a Book

If you have a book of any rank, then tap on all four cards with the same rank. Tap on cards one at a time from your hand. The cards automatically move to your book area. Your score increases and displays at the top of the game screen. After you make a book, hear audio for a Bible verse representing the cards in the book.

If Jonah gives you a card which makes a book, then make another book. You gain ten more points!

Jonah's Turn

If Jonah doesn't have any cards of the rank you asked for, Jonah tells you to Go Fish. Tap the deck of cards, to fish. If the card from the top of the deck, isn't the rank you asked for, then it's Jonah's turn.

Jonah uses three techniques to ask you for all the cards in your hand, with a specific rank. First the button representing the rank he wants, flashes. The bubble area displays the rank Jonah wants from your hand. If no other sound effects are playing, you'll hear Jonah ask for a specific rank.

For example Jonah might say, Please give me your twos. Additionally the bubble area displays Please give me your twos., and the Twos button flashes:

twos button

Give Jonah Your Cards

Tap on the cards you want to give Jonah. When you've given Jonah all your cards of a specific rank, tap the Done button, above.

If the cards you gave Jonah provide four cards of one rank, then Jonah makes a book. Jonah's new book displays in Jonah's book area. After Jonah makes a book, hear audio for a Bible verse representing the cards in the book. Jonah will then ask for another card.

Tell Jonah to Fish

If you don't have any cards with the rank Jonah asked for, then tap the Go Fish button. Jonah then receives a card from the top of the deck. If the top card on the deck is the rank Jonah asked you for, then Jonah asks you for another rank. The rank button flashes, and the bubble area displays the rank Jonah wants.

If the top card from the deck provides Jonah with four cards of one rank, then Jonah makes a book. Music chimes when Jonah makes a book.

If the top card from the deck matches the rank Jonah asked for, then it's still Jonah's turn. Jonah then asks you for another rank.

Otherwise it's your turn. The bubble area displays It's your turn., and Jonah saysTap a rank button..

Game Over

The game's over when there aren't any more cards in the deck. The person with the most amount of books wins. Your scores display in the score area, along with music and animated color. Select the Play button, to play again!
